Emmitsburg Ambulance now houses county EMS

Frederick County emergency medical services (EMS) crew members Richard B. The career employees were transferred to EVAC headquarters after the county decided to relocate the paid crew from Vigilant Hose. The Frederick County career employees moved to EVAC on Dec. 15.

Town rescinds DePaul snow route tickets

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Residents living along DePaul Street who received tickets Thursday, Dec. 15, for violating a town snow route declaration will not have to pay for the violations, according to the mayor.

Town spokesperson Patricia Feeser told The Dispatch that 71 tickets had been issued for parking on DePaul during the snow. Zoning enforcement officers Amy Naill and Carol Kelley issued the tickets, which each carry a $15 fine.

Board shortens public comment limits

EMMITSBURG, Md. – The board of commissioners voted 3-2 on Jan. 3 to reduce the amount of time for individual public comment at town meetings from eight to four minutes per agenda item.

Mayor James E. Hoover and commissioners Christopher V. Staiger and Glenn Blanchard voted in favor of the time reduction. Commissioners William B. O’Neil, Jr. and Arthur Elder voted to retain the eight-minute time limit.

MDCC receives conditional approval in Freedom 

FREEDOM TOWNSHIP, Pa. – The town board of supervisors unanimously granted conditional approval to Mason-Dixon Country Club, Inc.’s (MDCC) conditional use application.


MDCC has proposed a halfbillion dollar, 867-acre “golf community” of more than 1,160 homes interlaced with a golf complex spanning Freedom Township and a portion of northern
