could double size of Emmitsburg in 30 years
EMMITSBURG,
Md. – A potential development west of Emmitsburg
could double the size of the town over the next 30 years
or more.
During
a workshop about Emmitsburg’s draft comprehensive
plan on Feb. 22, Andy Mackintosh with Mackintosh Realtor
spoke with the town planning and zoning commissioners
about how a development he would like to build could
also benefit the town.

Digging Out
The
Valentine's Days snowstorm in the region caused
problems not so much because of the snow that
fell but because that snow froze to ice. Emmitsburg
used plows and front loaders to clear the main
streets downtown amid the traffic.

Town planner files ethics complaint against commissioner
EMMITSBURG,
Md. – Emmitsburg’s former town planner has filed
an ethics complaint against Town Commissioner William B. O’Neil
Jr., accusing him of using his office for personal benefit,
lying to the commission and defaming town staff.
On Feb.
1, former Emmitsburg Town Planner Michael Lucas sent an ethics
complaint to Emmitsburg Ethics Commission Chairman Ted Brennan

B. O’Neil Jr. while serving as a Town Commissioner did
violate Section 2.32.030 of the Emmitsburg Municipal

Carroll Valley and citizens
wrestle over athletic "head tax"
CARROLL
VALLEY BOROUGH, Pa. - The weather was cold and snowy outside
for the Feb. 13 borough council meeting, but inside the issue
of a user fee for Carroll Valley’s athletics programs
was hotly debated. The 2007 budget calls for an annual $10
fee for every participant in Carroll Valley’s softball,
soccer, and football programs.
The council
was discussing lowering that fee to $5 for Carroll Valley
residents. Representatives of the athletic programs objected
to any fee, saying the additional cost was not justified based
on the services the borough provides for the programs. Representing
