Ideas for a town bypass changing

Planning and Zoning Commission
continues work on comprehensive plan

EMMITSBURG, Md. – As the Emmitsburg Planning and Zoning Commission works to reach agreement on a comprehensive plan to recommend to the mayor and town commissioners, the idea of a southern parkway won’t happen…at least in its current form.

During a workshop on April 19, Planning Consultant Chris Jakubiak presented a number of changes that he saw needed to be made to the draft comprehensive plan the commission has been discussing.

SOUTH SETON WORK
COMPLETED

Traffic flowing smoothly once again


EMMITSBURG, Md. – All of the backhoes, jackhammers and other construction equipment is gone from South Seton Avenue and what’s left behind is a smooth new road, but it’s what is underneath that is more important.

“Everything on South Seton Avenue is serviced by a new main,” said Mayor James Hoover. “We modified the scope of work and improved the sidewalk and while the street was torn up, we had them run conduit to put street lights in.”

Sr. Debes heads Emmitsburg
Province of Daughters of Charity

EMMITSBURG, Md. – Sister Claire Debes was installed at Visitatrix and Provincial Superior of the Emmitsburg Province of the Daughters of Charity on April 21.

“It’s a bit of a surprise,” Debes said. “I’m grateful for the all the previous experiences I’ve had to prepare me for this.”
