Bypass president
resigns and switches position
CARROLL
VALLEY, Pa. – Things may get a whole lot trickier for
those attempting to garner support for an Emmitsburg/Pennsylvania
bypass now that one of the main supporters of the project
has resigned his position as president of the Mason Dixon
Coalition for a Northern Bypass.
In
a letter addressed to the editor and readers of The Dispatch,
Carroll Valley Borough Councilman William K. Reinke stated
that, “As I have visited townships and boroughs in
Southern Adams County and spoken to the residents, it has
become clear to me that this bypass flies in the face of
my ideals as a private citizen and a Carroll Valley Councilman:
to represent the will of the people, to mange growth wisely,
and to lead with the long term future in mind. In that light,
I have resigned from the Mason Dixon Coalition for a Northern
Bypass and withdrawn my support of the project.”

listed several concerns in regards to the building of a

Enjoy an evening of Christmas spirit
EMMITSBURG, Md. – Enjoy an evening celebrating the true
meaning of Christmas at the 19th Annual “An Evening
of Christmas Spirit.”
“In
recent years, absolutely, this event has increased,”
said Mayor James Hoover.
The
celebration will be on Monday, Dec. 3 from 6 – 9 p.m.
It begins with the lighting of the town Christmas tree in
front of the Community Center on South Seton Avenue at 6

Mount employee wins gold at Special Olympics
TANEYTOWN,
Md. – Charles Syd Lean of Taneytown has been involved
in competitive cycling since he was three years old, riding
away with countless medals, awards, titles and trophies.
But most recently Syd participated in the 2007 Special Olympics
World Summer Games and left an Olympic champion.
Syd won gold medals in the 15k road race and 40k road
race and won silver in the 25k road race in the top-seeded
division.
“It
was good,” Syd simply said of his experience at
